It is designed for people that want to find out more about computers and acquire basic computer skills. In addition it will introduce you to other National Extension College (NEC) titles in the IT1 series so you can build on what you learn in this introduction. This course concentrates on giving you a good foundation in computer skills.You will learn the important basic skills needed to enable you to enjoy using computers.You will learn how computers work, how to use the various bits that make up a computer e.g. the mouse, and you will be introduced to navigating around a computer screen. In addition you will learn how to work safely, the basics of Microsoft Word and of course how to ensure your work is saved and kept safe! The course consists of a workbook, a CD-ROM and downloadable Consolidation Assignments. Practice makes perfect, so your new found skills will be reinforced by regular consolidation exercises found in the workbook and by assignments.To ensure you gain the best possible benefit from this course you will receive feedback on your three consolidation assignments from your tutor. The course has been designed for learners with Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Word 2000, but learners with Microsoft Windows 98 and/or Microsoft Word 97 should have no problems following the course.

IT3 Web Publishing using MS FrontPage (NETg)

This course has been designed specifically for people already able to use Microsoft FrontPage but wanting to make the most of its capabilities in order to publish on the web. You learn how to import and modify existing Webs and how to incorporate some of the more advanced Web page elements to customise your own Web.You cover client-server interaction, importing an existing Web and modifying and structuring your Web.You look at design considerations and creating dynamic Web pages and frames and you’re shown how to create Web forms, integrate databases with your Web and publish to a Web server. Finally you cover some of the FrontPage collaboration features that you can use in a multi-authoring environment.
